Modern day San Francisco and scientists at the Gen Sys laboratories experiment on a genetically modified virus (ALZ 113) to help people with degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s. They test this on Apes who start to develop their own intelligence, emotion and power.

Meanwhile, the new virus ALZ 113 proves to be lethal to humans…
