Beth Emhoff (Gwyneth Paltrow) returns home from a business trip to Hong Kong. She’s caught the flu but no big deal a few days in bed and she’ll be fine…
Beth dies and her young son dies a few days later. A lethal virus is spreading across the world by touch. The Doctors and Scientists at the U.S Centre for Disease Control (CDC) try to identify the virus and then find some way of dealing with it.
The contagion spreads to millions and people panic with society breaking down with widespread rioting. In among the social disorder the CDC teams are working overnight to find a vaccine for the virus but any vaccine will take months to develop, manufacture and deliver and many more people will die.
Directed by Steven Soderbergh, starring Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet, Matt Damon and Jude Law.
